Xinhua | Updated: 2026-08-28 16:16

KATHMANDU - Nepal authorities issued a fresh warning on Friday of another possible flood after an increased flow of water mixed with debris and mud was reported in the same stretch of the Bhote Koshi River where a catastrophic flash flood struck on Wednesday.

"Information has been received that the flow of water mixed with debris and mud has increased again today in the same area of the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa, where a major flood occurred on August 26," the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said in a notice.

With another flood possible, NDRRMA urged all personnel involved in rescue and relief operations along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, as well as anyone still in high-risk areas, to exercise extreme caution and move immediately to safer ground if danger is observed.

The massive flood has left at least 469 people dead and 977 missing in Nepal, according to local authorities.
