Exchange program held to empower high-quality development of education

The academic exchange meeting for the St. Edmund's College Exchange Scholars Development Project at the University of Cambridge concluded successfully as scheduled recently.

A total of 19 Chinese scholars gathered at the University of Cambridge for a seven-day academic exchange and in-depth dialogue from August 16 to 21, 2026. Designed to strengthen China-UK academic communication, the program fostered interdisciplinary idea exchange and broadened participants' global research vision.

Throughout the intensive schedule, scholars attended a series of high-level thematic courses and keynote lectures delivered by distinguished international experts. Jon Rosenbeck delivered a lecture titled Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media: Psychology, Persuasion Techniques and Misinformation. Integrating psychology, philosophy and other foundational disciplines, the course offered forward-looking insights into digital-era educational methodologies, media literacy cultivation and educational innovation, grounded in cognitive mechanisms, social psychology and information communication theories.

Additionally, renowned experts including Matthew Simpson, Stephen Archer and Julianna Cavalcanti gave special lectures covering identity cognition, personality and public health, and international economics. Their sharing provided multidimensional perspectives and solid theoretical support for innovative educational research.

Coinciding with China's Qixi Festival during the program, participating scholars introduced the festival's historical origins, folklore traditions and cultural connotations to Cambridge faculty members. By interpreting the romantic symbolism and profound heritage of this traditional Chinese festival, the group bridged cross-cultural boundaries on the British campus. The unique overseas celebration added profound humanistic warmth to the exchange and further deepened mutual friendship between Chinese and UK scholars.

The delegation also conducted field visits to Cambridge Science Park and local entrepreneurship incubators. During specialized technical exchanges with guest expert Alex Smits, scholars gained first-hand understanding of the UK's technological innovation ecosystem and incubation mechanisms.

To fully immerse themselves in Cambridge's time-honored academic culture, participants toured the historic campus, experienced classic rowing activities, and visited the iconic King's College Chapel. The program also arranged themed seminars and open discussion sessions, enabling scholars to engage in in-depth academic dialogues with guests including Stuart Elu and Sunny. Participants exchanged research outcomes and explored potential opportunities for international interdisciplinary cooperation.
