Two young women, ages 15 and 20, have accused a Wuhan University professor of academic fraud and an affair with their father in an 86-page complaint released Thursday online. They are calling on the university to investigate.

The report quickly went viral, trending on Sina Weibo.

Wuhan University responded the same day, saying it had taken note of the online reports concerning Zeng, a faculty member at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences.

The whistle-blowers submitted their materials to the university's commission for discipline inspection on Aug 19. The commission has formally accepted the case, initiated an investigation, and notified the informant, the university's statement said.

"Should any allegations be substantiated, disciplinary and legal actions will be taken in strict accordance with regulations, with zero tolerance for misconduct," the statement added.

The father at the center of the case is now a vice-president at Anhui University in Anhui province. He previously worked at Wuhan University.
