Regulator outlines responsibilities of national defense mobilization department

China's top economic regulator has outlined the responsibilities of its national defense mobilization department, according to a recent update on its official website.

The department coordinates national defense mobilization work, draws up development plans and oversees implementation. It also handles day-to-day work for the State Commission for National Defense Mobilization, the National Development and Reform Commission said.

"We will continue to strengthen national defense mobilization and the development of reserve forces," the department said, adding that it would improve the mobilization system and bolster its support capacity in response to evolving needs.

The move comes ahead of the revised National Defense Mobilization Law taking effect on Oct 1. The law assigns the State Commission for National Defense Mobilization responsibility for organizing, guiding and coordinating national defense mobilization nationwide.
