BioShanghai Week 2026 to focus on innovation, global partnership

The BioShanghai Week 2026 will run from Sept 17 to 20 in Shanghai, bringing together industry leaders, Nobel laureates, and investors to advance collaboration in the life sciences.

Now in its sixth edition, the conference will draw major multinational pharmaceutical companies including Sanofi, Novartis, Roche, and AstraZeneca, alongside leading domestic giants such as Shanghai Pharma, United Imaging, and Fosun Pharma. Attendees will also include international regulatory and accreditation leaders.

The conference is structured around five core themes: innovation integration, clinical translation, capital empowerment, ecosystem services, and coordinated healthcare development. Specialized tracks will cover cutting-edge fields, including cell and gene therapy, Parkinson's disease treatments, innovative immunotherapies, AI-enabled drug discovery, brain-computer interfaces, and smart elderly care.

Global partnership remains a central focus, with country-specific forums highlighting key markets across the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and Southeast Asia.

The event also offers immersive tour programs, giving international delegates firsthand exposure to Shanghai's life sciences hub through guided visits to top enterprises, university laboratories, and clinical research centers.

This year's summit comes during a surging wave of Chinese pharmaceutical innovation. In the first half of 2026 alone, China's outbound licensing deals reached $99.7 billion, which is more than double the total volume recorded in all of 2024 and represents 73 percent of 2025's full-year volume.

Investment and dealmaking will take center stage throughout the conference. Road show tracks will showcase ventures across gene and cell therapy, medical devices and digital health, and innovative therapeutics, creating pathways for both domestic and international projects to connect with capital.

The inaugural Jefferies Asia Pacific healthcare conference will run concurrently, matching companies' international financing and partnership needs. A dedicated appointment platform will facilitate participants in identifying potential partners and scheduling negotiations, designed to accelerate progress from initial introductions to signed agreements.
