UCL's sizable Chinese community: Welcoming the best of the best

More than 15,000 Chinese students study at UCL, accounting for over 20 percent of its total student body. With one of the largest Chinese student populations of any UK university, UCL often faces the question: Why does UCL have such a sizeable Chinese community?

In a recent exclusive interview with China Daily, UCL President and Provost Michael Spence offered a straightforward answer: "Because they're so good."
