Two dead, six injured as car strikes e-bikes in Guangxi

A car struck nine electric bicycles in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Monday, killing two people and injuring six others, local police said Tuesday.

The crash occurred at 6:24 pm on Qingping Road in Pingma township of Tiandong county, Baise city, according to a statement from the county's public security bureau.

Police said the 24-year-old driver, surnamed Huang, collided with nine electric bicycles while driving a car along the road. The crash also damaged multiple vehicles.

Huang has been taken into police custody. Preliminary tests ruled out drunk driving and drug use, police said.

The injured are receiving medical treatment, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
