A bronze measure of shared principles

A small bronze weight can tell a much bigger story — one about shared standards and common principles.

Unearthed in Zoucheng, Shandong province, this bronze quan was part of the standardized system of weights and measures used in AD 9. By putting trade and exchange on the same scale, such standards helped turn justice from an abstract ideal into an everyday practice.
