Former vice-minister of education under investigation

Lu Xin, former vice-minister of education, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, as announced by China's top anti-corruption watchdogs on Monday.

The announcement was disclosed online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, though no further details were released.

Public records indicate that Lu, 71, a native of Liaoning province, began her career in December 1971 and joined the CPC in June 1985. She spent decades working in her hometown, holding various significant positions, including deputy mayor of Fushun, Liaoning, and head of the Department of Finance of Liaoning province.

In January 2003, she became deputy governor of Liaoning and later served as vice-minister of education in April 2009. In December 2018, she became head of the Chinese Society for Technological and Vocational Education.
