Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations light up Morocco with poetry and music

The China Cultural Center in Rabat hosted a series of "Mid-Autumn in Poetry" events across Morocco, captivating local audiences with a blend of traditional Chinese culture, contemporary jazz music, and poetic recitations.

The highlight of the celebrations was the Mid-Autumn Concert held in Rabat on Sept 20. The concert attracted over 200 attendees, including Chinese and foreign diplomats, Moroccan cultural officials, representatives from art foundations, as well as local culture and music enthusiasts.

The concert kicked off with a bilingual Chinese-Arabic recitation of the classic poem Looking at the Moon and Longing for One Far Away, performed jointly by Chinese and Moroccan youth. It was followed by a dynamic performance by Doo Jazz Band, a troupe of faculty and students from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music.

Beyond Rabat, the ensemble also toured the Derb Ghallef Socio-Educational Center on Sept 19 and the Cultural Center of Kenitra on Sept 21 in Casablanca. By seamlessly blending traditional Chinese motifs with modern jazz, the performances offered audiences a unique musical experience rich in both Eastern elegance and modern energy.

As part of the festival series, a Mid-Autumn-themed workshop was held in Casablanca on Sept 19, giving local participants hands-on experience with traditional Chinese culture. Additionally, the "Mid-Autumn in Poetry" gathering took place at the China Cultural Center in Rabat on Sept 23, bringing together guests from both countries to share feelings of togetherness through verses and moonlit metaphors.

Throughout all events in the series, attendees were treated to mooncake tastings, offering them an authentic taste of China's festive culinary heritage and the warm spirit of reunion.
