San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and Chinese Consul General Zhang Jianmin raised the Chinese national flag at San Francisco City Hall on Wednesday, marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Lurie proclaimed Oct 1, 2026, as "China-US Friendship and Heritage Day" in San Francisco. San Francisco City Hall has hosted multiple flag-raising ceremonies marking China's National Day, reflecting longstanding local and people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States.
