A 3.5-meter-tall horse sculpture by Wang Huaxiang, a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, has recently been unveiled in Hongjiang village, Guizhou province.
The land art installation, titled fu ma-fu ma, is the latest landmark in the village, which has become home to more than 100 artists.
The sculpture draws on a local ritual in which villagers pray for elderly residents to recover from illness. "Red represents good fortune and vitality, gold symbolizes prosperity, and white stands for purity. Together, these colors express villagers' hopes for a better life," Wang said.
