Paralympic athletes Yan Panpan, Li Yujie to carry China's flag at Asian Para Games

The Chinese sports delegation announced on Saturday that para powerlifter Yan Panpan and para taekwondo athlete Li Yujie will serve as flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the fifth Asian Para Games, set to take place on Sunday in Nagoya, Japan.

Yan, 36, has an impressive track record in international competitions, including the Paralympic Games and Asian Para Games.

He won the men's 97-kilogram championship at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games in 2023, and will compete in the men's 88-kilogram para powerlifting and mixed team events at this year's Games.

Li, 25, has competed at both the Tokyo and Paris Paralympic Games, winning gold in Paris in 2024. Her victory marked a historic milestone as the first para taekwondo gold medal for the Chinese delegation in Paralympic history.
