A group of 20 university students, faculty, and industry professionals from 11 countries began a five-day study tour on Friday at Xizang University in Lhasa, Xizang autonomous region.

The visitors are in the region for the second part of the Global South AI Literacy Enhancement Camp. Prior to arriving on the plateau, they had spent time in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The Lhasa program includes specialized lectures, AI technology exchange dialogues, studies on historical and cultural aspects, and explorations of social security and aid achievements in the region.

On Saturday morning, camp members visited Xizang University. Associate Dean Li Pan from the School of Ecology and Environment delivered a lecture on AI's application in biodiversity conservation. He detailed AI's roles in measuring, predicting, and optimizing biodiversity conservation efforts. Using the digital biodiversity monitoring system in Lishui as an example, Li explained how AI systems can monitor, evaluate, and protect biodiversity in real-time. The lecture included discussions about ensuring the safety of AI big data applications.
