Three local police forces related to foreign affairs teamed up on Monday in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, during a university visit to publicize the latest exit-entry laws and regulations for more than 200 international students from 28 countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Kazakhstan.
Police officers explained the latest exit-entry management rules in detail, focusing on visa application, stay and residence, document submission requirements, visa-free transit, and visa extension and renewal. The event also featured a Q&A session and consultations.
Luna Cecile Schwiede, an 18-year-old German student, was happy to see that China's exit-entry procedures had been optimized. "This publicity campaign also answered many of my questions."
For Areej Sarwar, a 25-year-old Pakistani student, the updated regulations are timely. "More and more foreigners are visiting China and finding that it is one of the world's top tourist destinations."
Wang Guan, a police officer at the Shanxi General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, vowed the station would continue reaching out to educate university students about policies, laws, and services.
The latest edition of the regulations came into effect on Sept 15. The provisions aim to regulate exit and entry administration, protect the legitimate rights and interests of exit and entry persons, and safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests.
