Fudan University's Shanghai Medical College commemorates 99th anniversary of founding

As part of the plan to become a world-leading institution with Chinese characteristics, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, is scheduled to accelerate the development of the Hongqiao Medical Innovation Park, Jin Li, president of Fudan University, said on Thursday.

Jin, who is dean of the medical college as well, also highlighted the institution's plans to chart a new century of growth and continue exploring innovative paths for integrating medical education within a comprehensive university framework.

He announced these ambitious initiatives during a video address commemorating the 99th anniversary of the college's founding on Thursday.

At the event, Wu Zhengyi, deputy Party secretary of Fudan University and Party secretary of the medical college, emphasized the fundamental questions guiding their work: What kind of medical school should we run, what kind of medical talent should we cultivate, and how should we fulfill our national responsibilities? 

"Our efforts will be guided by the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). The college will be committed to pioneering medical innovations, tackling major medical challenges, supporting the development of Shanghai, and contributing to the national goals of strengthening education and building a healthy China," he said.

Coinciding with the event, the global alumni flag relay was launched, and the first announcement for the college's centennial celebration was made, officially marking the beginning of preparations for its 100th anniversary next year.
