Wuhan in central China's Hubei province, took the global fashion spotlight on Oct 21-22, 2026, hosting a summit that brought the industry's biggest names together to shape its future. Jointly organized by Wuhan SKP and WWD (Women's Wear Daily), the Global Fashion and Beauty Summit was themed "The Future Imperative," bringing together industry leaders to explore the future of luxury retail, immersive consumer experiences, and evolving market demands.
SKP (Shin Kong Place) is a series of high-end luxury shopping malls in China, known for its upscale retail environments and a wide selection of international luxury brands. Since its flagship location opened in Beijing more than 20 years ago, the group has expanded to major Chinese cities, including Xi'an, Chengdu, and most recently, Wuhan.
The summit continued a successful partnership between SKP and WWD, which began in Beijing in 2016 and subsequently brought the event to Xi'an and Chengdu, before its arrival in Wuhan. Representatives from over a hundred global fashion brands, including Armani, LVMH, Prada, and Saint Laurent, gathered to exchange views on international industry trends, the Chinese market, and emerging strategies for the sector's next phase of growth.
The summit opened with a visit to the RDV GALLERY, where guests viewed an exhibition of Chinese paintings and calligraphy. The opening evening featured a concert by the Hubei Symphony Orchestra alongside opera singers from nine countries. Guests were also treated to an electrifying performance by Italian retro-rock band Alessandro Ristori & The Portofinos.
The main forum examined the future trajectory of the fashion and beauty industries with discussions focusing on how brands can reshape growth models, advance creative expression, and strengthen consumer engagement amid a rapidly evolving market landscape.
Coinciding with the summit, the 2026 Wuhan International Consumption Season and Boutique Consumption Month was officially launched at Wuhan SKP. The events brought a range of unique Chinese experiences to the city, including tea ceremonies, an exhibition of intangible cultural heritage, and a specialty market featuring local Wuhan flavors.
