Construction workers, truck driver injured as section of bridge collapses

Three construction workers and one passing truck driver were injured on Saturday after a section of a bridge collapsed during the jacking of a steel truss at the construction site for the Cangzhou-Yulin Expressway, according to authorities.

The construction site was located in the Qingyuan district of Baoding, Hebei province, crossing the expressway linking Cangzhou, Hebei, and Yulin, Shaanxi province.

Two of the construction workers sustained serious injuries. All the injured have been promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Currently, local authorities are working on-site to ensure that the expressway can resume traffic as soon as possible. Investigations into the cause of the accident and follow-up actions are underway.
