China has created the world's biggest mobile multimedia broadcasting network, serving 336 cities with 16 million paying subscribers, said Wang Gengnian, director-general of China Radio International, who is also a high-level official with the State Administration of Radio Film and Television in China.
Wang, speaking at the 2012 China Content Broadcasting Network Exhibition in Beijing on Tuesday, said the network allows people to watch TV programs on various devices, including mobile phones, tablets and vehicle global positioning systems.
The network is based on a homegrown technology called "China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting" developed in 2008. China Broadcast Corp is the operator that deploys and runs the network.
