MADRID - Spanish La Liga club Villarreal announced Tuesday it has prolonged its agreement with Chinese social network site, Renren.
As a result of the agreement the club will again wear Renren's name on their official shirts for their home league matches against Malaga on Thursday and Real Sociedad.
The accord was signed during a visit carried out by Villarreal vice president Jose Manuel Llaneza to China, where he had travelled with the aim of strengthening Villarreal's already strong links with the country, wearing shirts made by Chinese company Xtep and on other occasions wearing the logo of another social network site, Sina Weibo.
Villarreal have already made two visits to the China, and last May played a friendly match in Hong Kong, the club intends to carry out some part of its pre-season training this coming summer in China, where they will play some friendly matches against Chinese sides.
The Spanish side also recently played a friendly game against Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua and Shanghai player Feng Renliang also spent time training with the club.
The last time Villarreal played wearing the Renren logo, the move brought the club good luck as they battled to a 1-1 draw at home to league leaders Real Madrid.
Coincidently Atletico Madrid announced on Monday that their shirts will be sponsored by Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei for Wednesday's derby match against local rivals Real Madrid.
