Chinese shares close down 0.16% Thursday

Chinese equities fell with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.16 percent, or 5.12 points, to close at 3,264.63.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.29 percent, or 40.67 points, to close at 13,759.84.

Combined turnover jumped to 314.94 billion yuan ($46.31 billion) from 310.95 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

All but one of the 28 shares in the ChiNext market for start-up stocks were up.
