All the infant formula milk tested in September was safe, the China Dairy Industry Association said Friday on its website.

Fifteen baby milk brands — including Mengniu, Yili, Bright and Nestle — were tested last month in five provinces and municipalities in the country, such as Beijing, Tianjin and Shanxi.

The test was jointly conducted by the China Dairy Industry Association and the Inspection Center of the National Food Quality Safety Supervision.

Results showed that the tested products were all in line with national standards, reaching the qualified rate of 100 percent.

The Chinese public has become increasingly concerned after a series of baby milk scandals.

In 2004, at least 13 children in eastern China's Anhui province died of malnutrition after drinking inadequate milk powder.

In 2008, six babies died from kidney stones and other kidney damage problems and thousands of children were ill after drinking melamine-tainted baby formula products. The chemical was added to milk to cause it to appear to have a higher protein content.
