Passengers will be banned from eating on subway trains starting next year, according to a new rule released by Shanghai's transport authority.
The Shanghai Municipal Transport and Port Authority developed the rule to support a new regulation on the management of the city's light rail transit network.
Under the new rule, passengers should not eat in subway cars, though they are still allowed to eat in the stations.
Passengers are also banned from boarding trains with luggage weighing more than 23 kilograms, or measuring more than 1.7 meters in length or 0.2 cubic meters in volume.
