The Guangzhou Railway Court has accepted a lawsuit filed by a passenger against Guangzhou Railway Group Corp after the latter charged 85.5 yuan ($14.12) for a standing ticket, Oriental Morning Post reported.
Lei Chuang, the passenger, said it is not fair a standing ticket cost the same as a hard seat ticket. He asked the court order that the group reduce his ticket price by 50 percent and refund him 42.75 yuan.
Lei purchased the standing ticket from Shenzhen to Shaoguan, Guangdong province, on Jan 8.
The court has scheduled a public hearing on March 6.
