Pangda

China's largest car dealer Pangda Automobile Trade Co Ltd opened its own e-commerce website to sell cars earlier this month.

According to a press release, the online platform covers its network of nearly 1,000 4S shops and some 100 car brands, and is a "truly all-day e-commerce portal for automobiles that never closes".

Not only new vehicles are sold through the online channel, customers can also buy accessories and second-hand cars, choose finance and insurance products as well as order car wash and beauty services.

BYD

Chinese battery and car manufacturer BYD recently launched a pre-order campaign for its dual-mode electric car Qin on its official website.

Named after China's first imperial dynasty, the vehicle can be powered solely with electricity or driven in hybrid mode.

According to media reports, a total of 2,486 customers ordered the car and paid deposits from Nov 10 to 14.

The good feedback prompted the company to continue a second round campaign, which attracted about 30,000 visitors to the website simultaneously.

The unexpected surge of visitors caused the website to crash.

A company official said later that they didn't expect such heavy traffic and will work to improve the website.
