Cross-Straits trade zone breaks ground in E China

The Secretary of Kunshan Municipal Party Committee Zhang Guohua also spoke at the ceremony, expressing his determination to develop cooperation zone into a modern trade area.

Zhang said the zone would provide purchasing, retailing, wholesaling and exposition services for Taiwanese commodities.

Cross-Straits trade zone breaks ground in E China Cultural fair to focus on cross-Straits industries

Mr Zhang said he would sincerely like to work with the Taiwan Trade Center, the Taiwan federation of industries, Taiwan Power Labor Union, Taiwan industrial and commercial research commission and other departments from Taiwan, to come to a win-win situation.

Taiwan Affairs Office, department of commerce, General Administration of Customs and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine were called for to support the development of the Cross-Straits (Kunshan) commerce and trade cooperation zone.

Others who attended the ceremony included Chen Xing, Inspector of Department of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce; Zhou Weiqiang, vice mayor of Suzhou city, and other officials from Kunshan's local government.

The ceremony was also well-attended by local representatives from Taiwan, including Huang Wenrong, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Trade Center; Hong Baochuan, executive member of the Taiwan federation of industries; Zhuang Bingjun, chief director for mainland affairs at the Taiwan Power Labor Union; Huang Zude, CEO of Taiwan industrial and commercial research commission; and Zhang Zhiyuan, director general of the labor union of Taiwan science & industrial area.
