Earthquake leaves 28 injured in SW China

Updated: 2009-11-02 13:24 KUNMING: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale shook southwest China's Yunnan Province early Monday, slightly injuring 28 people and collapsing more than 1,000 homes, local authorities said. The quake struck Binchuan and Xiangyun counties, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, at about 5 am.
The epicenter was detected at 26 degrees north and 100.7 degrees east, with a depth of about 10 km, said the National Seismological Network of China. |
