How would you protect yourself if faced with a robber? Ahead of International Women's Day, a police bureau has corrected 14 tips issued online to help females in danger, the Yangtze Evening News reported on Thursday.
"The life-saving 14 tips, which were popular on Internet, are not always correct in many circumstances. So we have posted a revised version of them as a gift to many women," the paper quoted a weibo post from Jiangning police bureau in Nanjing of Jiangsu province.
The original tips said the elbow is the toughest weapon for women to be used if under attack. But the police say this is wrong. "Actually, it is the knee that delivers the hardest blow," the message said.
It goes on: "If the robber has broken the door, you cannot call for help loudly unless you can lock yourself inside a room, then you can go to the balcony for help. Don't irritate the robber who is already face-to-face with you."
More tips can be found at http://weibo.com/njjnga, according to the paper. International Women's Day falls on March 8 every year.
