The Chinese mainland is striving to set up bar exam halls in Taiwan, says Zhang Sujun, deputy minister of Justice, on Wednesday, chinataiwan.org reported.
Since 2008, Taiwan residents could register for the mainland's judicial exam. The measure has received good responses, said Zhang.
Online enrollment is now possible in Taiwan, but the next step would be to set up examination halls there.
As Taiwan-invested enterprises increase in the mainland as well as cross-Straits exchanges, the mainland will be more open to lawyers from Taiwan, Zhang added.
