The Ministry of Education published a guidance paper to advocate setting up parents boards in schools and kindergartens.
The paper empowers parents boards to get involved in school management, and consult on school work plans and policies, especially those related to students and parents’ benefits.
Parents boards would be responsible for connecting schools and parents, including informing parents the latest school decision and reflecting parents' concerns to the school. One of the tasks of the boards would be to help ease students’ schoolwork burden.
According to the paper, parents boards would be formed by the parents of incoming students, to be voted in by other parents.
