KUNMING - Twenty-six children remain in hospital in Southwest China's Yunnan province Wednesday after food poisoning affected over 300 students on Monday in a rural primary school, authorities said.
According to a statement released by Zhenxiong county officials, 342 students were discharged from the county hospital, and were back at Dingla Primary School by Wednesday morning.
The 26 remaining students were in a stable condition, and continued to receive hospital treatment.
On Monday, 368 students at the Dingla Primary School were admitted to the county hospital after eating lunch at school, with dozens showing symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and fever.
Authorities have ordered the primary school to suspend serving lunch.
An investigation into the suspected food poisoning is underway.
