BEIJING - Southern China is bracing for heavy rain in the coming days as millions of people are expected to travel during the upcoming three-day International Labor Day holiday, the country's meteorological authorities said Saturday.
Torrential rain will pelt the provinces of Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong over the next three days, accompanied by strong winds, the National Meteorological Center said in a statement on its website.
Light or moderate rain will hit the country's northeastern areas and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region until Monday, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Tibet autonomous region will see sleet over the next three days, while light to moderate rain is forecast for parts of southeast Tibet, according to the statement.
The center suggested people pay attention to and prevent travel risks amid the rainy weather.
