COPENHAGEN - Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt attended the signing of 11 cooperation agreements Saturday in the areas of energy, tariffs, culture and agriculture.

The documents included the memorandum of understanding on establishing a China-Denmark renewable energy partnership, the momorandum of understanding on the reciprocal establishment of cultural centers, the memorandum of understanding on deepening cooperation in agriculture, an agreement on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, and a framework agreement on establishing a China-Denmark Milk Technology and Cooperation Center, among others.

The Chinese leader began his state visit to Denmark on Thursday and met with Danish Queen Margrethe II on Friday.

During Hu's visit to the Northern European country, the two countries also signed six other cooperation documents.

During his meeting with Thorning-Schmidt on Saturday, Hu said his visit to Denmark, the first by a Chinese head of state since the two countries established diplomatic ties, was "an embodiment of the high attention we attach to China-Denmark relations."

He voiced belief his visit would improve the understanding and trust between the two countries and further push forward the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

China and Denmark have expanded fruitful cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological fields since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1950. In 2008, the two nations established a comprehensive strategic partnership.
