BEIJING - China on Friday extended its deep condolences to the victims of a garment factory fire in Pakistan and expressed sincere sympathy to the families of the victims and those injured.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei expressed the condolences at a regular news briefing in response to a question on the fire that broke out in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Tuesday evening.
As of Friday, a total of 259 people were confirmed killed in the garment factory fire, including 236 men and 23 women.
