More aid set for students

The central government plans to provide more aid to postgraduate students, according to the Ministry of Finance.

An interim measure to grant national scholarships has been launched by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education at the end of September.

The measure specifies that the central government's budget will fund National Graduate Scholarships to 45,000 outstanding full-time postgraduate students, including 10,000 PhD students and 35,000 master's degree students.

The grant for doctoral students will be 30,000 yuan ($4,797) per year, and 20,000 yuan per year for master's degree students.

All full-time master's degree and PhD students will be eligible to apply.

The scholarships will be reviewed annually.
