An intermediate court in Dongguan, Guangdong province, has accepted a lawsuit that the Beijing airport bomber filed against the local government, Beijing News reported on Monday.

Ji Zhongxing, 34, set off the blast at Beijing Capital International Airport in July and was sentenced to six years in prison on Oct 15, the report said.

Ji, who uses a wheelchair, said during his trial that he set off the bomb because of the failure of his petitions to get results after he was seriously beaten in Dongguan, the report said.

Ji asked the Dongguan government to disclose its findings about the beating case on Aug 1, but was turned down, the report said, adding that the refusal was why Ji filed the lawsuit.

After Ji bombed the airport, the Dongguan government said it had established a special team to study the case, but there has been no report so far, the report said.

Ji began work in Dongguan in 1999, when he earned extra money by picking up passengers on his motorcycle. In 2005, he was beaten by two security guards after a dispute.

Liu Xiaoyuan, Ji's lawyer, confirmed that the lawsuit has been accepted by Dongguan Intermediate People's Court.

Ji has also appealed his sentence. Beijing No 3 Intermediate People's Court accepted the appeal on Oct 28, according to the court's micro blog.
