Fan Changlong, Xu Qiliang endorsed as vice chairmen of CMC

BEIJING - Fan Changlong and Xu Qiliang were endorsed as vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China at the annual parliamentary session on Friday morning.

Fan Changlong, Xu Qiliang endorsed as vice chairmen of CMC

Nearly 3,000 deputies to the 12th National People's Congress voted to approve the nomination by Xi Jinping, chairman of the CMC of the People's Republic of China, according to the Constitution.

Chang Wanquan, Fang Fenghui, Zhang Yang, Zhao Keshi, Zhang Youxia, Wu Shengli, Ma Xiaotian and Wei Fenghe were appointed the CMC members after Xi's nomination was approved by the national lawmakers.

General Fan, born in May 1947, is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a vice chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission.

General Xu, born in March 1950, is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the 18th CPC Central Committee and a vice chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission.

Fan Changlong, born in May 1947, is a male ethnic Han from Dandong, Liaoning Province. He entered the workforce in October 1968 and joined the PLA in January 1969 and the CPC in September of the same year.

Xu Qiliang, born in March 1950, is a male ethnic Han from Linqu, Shandong Province. He joined the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in July 1966 and the Communist Party of China (CPC) in July 1967.
