A free tour bus between Guiyang and Xingyi went into operation on Monday, and is the first intercity free tour bus in China, a travel agency said.
Xingyi, a city 300 km from Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, has rich tourism resources, but its isolation and poor transportation options pose an obstacle for visitors. Wanfenglin, a national 4A-level scenic spot in Xingyi, is famous for its thousands of beautiful mountains.
The free bus service is expected to be of great benefit to travelers and lays a solid foundation for making a new tourist destination linking Guizhou, Yunnan province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said Wu Bi, general manager of China (Guizhou) International Travel Service.
Tourists who buy entrance tickets to all of three scenic spots: Wanfenglin, Malinghe Gorge and Shuangrufeng Peak through CITS may take the free bus. Three buses are in use for the initial service and will shuttle between Guiyang and Xingyi twice a week during the trial period.
