The Guangxi Normal University Press and the Palace Museum Press launched on Jan 9 a series of children’s books titled We All Live in the Forbidden City.

Designed by Hong Kong-based Chiu Kwong-chiu and his Design and Cultural Studies Workshop and sponsored by the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation, the series comprises seven illustrated books about the Forbidden City, the life of emperors and empresses, porcelain, and traditional Chinese architecture, using comics.

The publishers invited renowned cartoonist Alice Mak Ka-pik and Brian Tse Lap-man to provide the illustrations.

With the support of the Palace Museum and the Palace Museum Press, CnC and the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation launched the project in 2008.

In 2010, the version of the series with traditional Chinese characters was published in Hong Kong. Now the version with simplified characters is being published.
