A series of short animations about Ali, a red cartoon fox that is very popular in China, will be released via major Chinese video websites on March 14, considered the eighth birthday of the fictional fox.

The first episode will be available on Iqiyi, Youku, Letv and many other Chinese video websites on March 14. According to the production team, Beijing Dream Castle Culture Company, it tells warm stories that help people relax, a constant theme of the red fox’s stories.

The series has seven episodes made from the stories in three picture books published in the last five years. Ali’s picture books have sold more than 1.5 million copies, topping the list of picture books in China’s online bookshops.

Xu Han, who created the cartoon image, said he draws for people who believe in fairy tales besides the hustle and bustle of city life.

Last year, the company released three short films, in its first attempts at animation. They had been viewed online more than 200 million times by the end of 2013.
