Zhongdong Miao village is located in a mountain 1,800 meters above sea level in Ziyun county, Southwest China’s Guizhou province. The largest cave in the mountain is approximately 230 meters long, 115 wide and 50 high. It is home to 70 villagers from 18 households. The villagers are labeled as the "last cave-dwelling tribe" in Asia. There are many houses, all without roof, a school and a basketball court in the cave. Most of the people have left the village in search of money and job opportunities. However, many others refused to leave, and even refused to move into the new houses built by the local government.[Photo/People's Daily Online] |
