Art beat in June

The Guangzhou Opera House is set to present an opera with one of its most splendid stage settings ever, between June 27 and 29. The sets will include a bustling market, a grand carnival and a real horse. The London-based Royal Opera House in Covent Garden's production of Carmen, directed by Francesca Zambello, will make a revival with an investment of 13.5 million yuan ($2.2 million).

Caught in the family ties

Caught in the Net by English playwright Ray Cooney is a sequel to Run for Your Wife by the same author. The latter had a very successful Chinese adaptation by Stan Lai's performance workshop a few years ago. Xu Jun, a director from Shanghai, has produced the Chinese adaptation of the sequel. The story starts with a father's two children from his relationship with two wives, who meet online and become fond of each other.
