Celtic legends come to Beijing

Art beat in February

Celtic Legends, a show inspired by the traditional culture, music and dance of Ireland, has been touring the world since its debut in 2002 and has wowed more than 1 million people. Now, the sensation is coming to Beijing for the Spring Festival. Choreographed by Jacintha Sharpe, who is also one of the leading dancers, the show mixes Irish dancing, classic folklore and a live band led by music director Sean McCarthy, who is also the Uilleann Piper for Celtic Legends.

Evergreen folk songs

Veteran Chinese folk singers, including Huang Lihua, Liu Shiming and Wang Jing, will give a show in Beijing to celebrate the Spring Festival. The audience will be treated to classical Chinese folk songs, such as My Motherland, On Top of Beijing's Gold Mountains, and A Beautiful Legend.

Master's new works

Established cross-talk master Li Jindou will perform with other cross-talk, or xiangsheng, comedians, including Shi Fukuan, Li Guosheng and Li Zengrui. Besides classical xiangsheng pieces, he will also present two new works with actor Li Jianhua. His apprentice Fang Qingping, one of the most popular young cross-talk performers in China, will also perform his popular works.
