An exhibition on the culture and history of French royal castle, the Chateau de Chambord, opened at the Garden of Harmonious Virtue in Beijing's Summer Palace on Tuesday.

Chateau de Chambord, with a history of more than 500 years, was constructed during the Renaissance Period and symbolized the peak of French civilization. The exhibition displays 43 photos and illustrations on Chambord to make tourists better know the place.

The Summer Palace, located in the western suburbs of Beijing, was built in 1750 during the Reign of Emperor Qianlong in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and declared by the UNESCO as "a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design".

The exhibition, which will last until Nov 10, is a part of the cooperative projects between the two royal gardens from the east and west. It aims to strengthen Sino-French cultural exchanges as well as cooperation in cultural heritage protection.
