Up to 233 sets of ancient relics from Rome will meet Chinese visitors in the coming year. That's according to an agreement signed by the museums of the two countries in Chengdu, China, on November 17.

According to the agreement, the tour exhibition of ancient Roman empire relics - "Eternal City, the Glory of Ancient Rome" will be staged in four Chinese museums that include Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Tianjin Museum, Shandong Museum and Yunnan Museum, with the display in each venue lasting for 80 days.

The more than 200 sets of cultural treasures to be presented are from nine historical sites and museums in Rome, such as the Colosseum, the Palatine Museum, Emperor Nero's Golden Palace, National Museum of Rome, Museum of Imperial Fora and Museum of Gallo-Roman Civilization.

A variety of artworks will be shown, including statues, architectural components, bronze ware, golden vessels, pottery works, glassware and other forms of exhibits. Many items will meet Chinese museum-goers for the first time, showcasing the achievements of Roman culture and art at its height.

To enable Chinese audiences to fully experience ancient Roman culture, the exhibition will be co-curated and co-designed by Chinese and Italian experts. The show will be planned and presented on the basis of historical events, with memorable architecture and figures presented along a timeline. The exhibition will also feature multi-media displays.
