Wu also emphasized the possibility of crossover when he retold his meditation on sheng and his music. He believed that sheng should not be confined to Chinese traditional music, but can be performed with other nations' musical instruments. Wu showed a video clip of his impromptu performance of sheng with an Indian drummer Sandeep Das, again demonstrating the sheng's strong capability in harmonizing.

"I want to let more people know about the beauty of sheng, and show such a wonderful Chinese instrument to the world," said Wu with a smile on his face.

Wu Tong will bring his sheng to the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center to show the sheng's harmonic possibilities at the concert. With the engagement of Indian drummer Sandeep Das and Spanish bagpipe performer Anxo Lois Gracia Pintos, the concert exemplifies the possibility of crossovers in Wu's understanding of sheng and Chinese traditional music.
