China and Morocco have reached agreement on setting up a China Cultural Center in the North African country. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the director of China's State Administration of Cultural Heritage Liu Yuzhu and Morocco's culture secretary Mohammed Amin Sybi on Jan 21 in Rabat.

Liu said China has always attached great importance to its relations with Morocco. Since agreement on cultural cooperation between the two countries in 1982, a further nine annual programs have been signed. The frequent cultural communication helps foster further friendly relations between the countries and the establishment of the cultural center will build a new platform for mutual cooperation and cultural communication between the two peoples.

With both China and Morocco having cultural history and ancient civilization, the countries have built a stable cultural relationship. The establishment of a China Cultural Center in Morocco embodies mutual hopes for further cultural understandings and Morocco will continue to offer support and help during the center's construction, Morocco's culture secretary noted.

The two sides also held talks on strengthening cultural communication, especially on exchange and cooperation of cultural relics. Agreements on more issues have been reached.

Liu also met with Morocco's National Administration of Tourism Abdullah Phil.
