Duan Zhengqu's painting style is neither Realistic nor Abstract, but something in between - something that has the skeleton of Realism and the dreamlike air of Abstractionism.
The frequent presence of farmers in Duan's works comes from his childhood memory of standing at the entrance to a village in Henan province, waiting for his brother to return from school, and later inspiration from Shaanxi province.
His solo exhibition Story and Legend - 30 Years' Art Pursuit of Duan Zhengqu features more than 100 artworks and is his most comprehensive in recent years.
