The Xinyi Cup Awards for Classic Chinese Orchestral Works will announce 12 winning works on June 6 at Beijing Concert Hall, where the China National Orchestra and the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra will perform the works.
As part of the awards events, a forum on Chinese music will be held in Langfang, Hebei province, from June 7-9.
The winning works will be selected from more than 100 works composed between 1979 and 2009, to examine the development of Chinese orchestra musical works after the reform and opening-up in 1978.
Composers of the winning awards will each get 100,000 yuan ($15,800). Scores of these works will be published to promote them internationally.
The awards are sponsored by the Society for Chinese Orchestral Music and Xinyi Culture Development Corporation.
