Xining to host folk, modern dance festival

The first Folk Dance and Modern Dance Festival will be held at Xining, the capital of the Qinghai province, from August 15 to 17. Thanks to its geographic position, along main crossroads of ancient civilizations, Qinghai province is home to a variety of ethnic groups, which contributed a variety of dance genres. To add a modern twist to the traditional dances, the festival will also see hundreds of dancers from around the world sharing their dancing with local folk dancers. Local people will be able to join the festival by participating in public events held at squares in Xining. Lectures on protecting and developing folk dances will also be held during the festival.
